Job Category: Finance / Law / Purchase

Extent: Full time

Start date: As soon as possible

Type of work: Recruitment

About the role

On behalf of our client Grant Thornton, Academic Work is currently searching for an Advisor and Manager for the Indirect Taxes Department. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in VAT, and also preferably with knowledge of customs duties and charges. You will be part of a team of six ambitious and competent employees, working closely with the department's manager and playing a significant role in the further development of both the team and the business. In this role, you will take on some leadership responsibilities, including distributing and reviewing team assignments, leading the Tax Due Diligence process, and managing your own cases. This position offers an opportunity to use your experience, drive, focus, and energy to develop both yourself and your colleagues. It is important that you enjoy taking responsibility, are self-driven, and take pride in teaching and mentoring others.

You are offered

  • A middle management role (Senior Manager/Director) with responsibility and opportunities for personal and professional development, such as options for further education (e.g., international leadership programs within the GTI system).
  • The opportunity to be part of one of the world’s largest auditing firms.
  • An ambitious team with a focus on strong internal collaboration and high-quality standards.
  • Competitive salary, health insurance, and other benefits.
  • Attractive parental leave and a focus on work-life balance.
  • Emphasis on health, including healthy food and exercise.
  • Modern office facilities and various social events.

Work tasks

As described earlier, you will take on a middle management role, meaning your tasks will naturally vary and be broad within the VAT area and potentially within the customs duties and charges area. Your level of experience and education will impact the tasks and areas with which you will work. At Grant Thornton, and with the department's manager, there is a strong focus on development and integration, with a pronounced desire to utilize and develop each colleague's personal and professional skills to their fullest.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting Tax Due Diligence.
  • Facilitating client meetings and providing consultancy based on those meetings.
  • Handling audit cases with various authorities, including the Danish Tax Agency, the Danish Tax Appeals Agency, and potentially the Danish Customs Agency.
  • Reviewing, training, and passing on knowledge to colleagues.
  • Co-responsibility for the team’s development, business areas, and other relevant aspects.

We are looking for

  • Has completed a higher education such as a Cand.jur., Cand.merc.jur., or equivalent.
  • Has significant experience in VAT, and preferably customs duties and charges.
  • Is fluent in either Danish or Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Is fluent in English, both spoken and written. Your experience could come from both the private or the public sector.

To succeed in this role, your personal competencies should include:

  • Social skills
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • Awareness of your own resources and abilities
  • Stability
  • Responsibility and a desire to teach others

We are looking for someone who takes pride in completing tasks thoroughly and works analytically, structured, and systematically, so nothing falls between two chairs. We also appreciate if you are an open person who enjoys interacting with both internal colleagues and external partners.
